About uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park
The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park is a World Heritage Site for both nature and culture: 243,000 hectares of the highest mountains in southern Africa, and the largest concentration of San rock paintings in the world, with some 40,000 images in around 600 shelters. It runs from Royal Natal in the north to Bushman's Nek in the south, mostly as Ezemvelo reserves, with the Lesotho escarpment as its western wall. It is a hiking landscape above all, from valley walks to the summit passes, with bearded vultures, eland and cold, clear winters. The Ezemvelo camps and the hotels of the Berg's valleys are the bases.
