About Kamberg Nature Reserve

Kamberg is a small Ezemvelo reserve in the central Drakensberg foothills, known for two things: fly fishing for trout in the Mooi River and its stocked dams, and the Game Pass Shelter, a San rock art site so significant it has been called the Rosetta Stone of southern African rock art, reached by a guided walk from the reserve's interpretive centre. The walks are gentle, the grassland holds eland and mountain reedbuck, and the reserve's chalets are quiet and self-catering. It is part of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg World Heritage Site and an easy drive from Nottingham Road and the Midlands.
