About Kasungu National Park
Kasungu is Malawi's second-largest park, a miombo woodland plateau on the Zambian border west of the town of Kasungu. Its wildlife was heavily poached and is being restored: elephants were translocated in from Liwonde in 2022, and buffalo, sable, roan and zebra are present, but sightings are still sparser than in Liwonde or Majete. It is a park for miombo birding, quiet walks and the Lifupa dam, with a lodge and a campsite, and it is a malaria area in the wet season.
