Shawa Luangwa Camp

Shawa Luangwa Camp is a small, eco-friendly bush camp above the Luangwa River in the Nsefu Sector, one of the most untouched parts of South Luangwa National Park. Year-round game, remarkable habitat diversity and the Valley of the Leopard's reputation make it ideal for safaris on foot and by vehicle. The camp is named after Jacob Shawa, the Zambian guide who has inspired generations of Luangwa guides.

There are five suites under A-frame canvas, raised on stilts and open on three sides for a 270-degree view over the river and the park. Three couples tents have double or twin beds, a sunken bath and a riverfront deck; the family tent is two tents joined by an elevated walkway, one with a king bed and one with twins, each with its own bathroom; and a premium tent completes the camp.

Game drives run in silent electric vehicles, mornings and evenings, with walking safaris when available and picnics out in the park. A private valet looks after each tent, and with only five suites, the whole camp can be booked for a family or group.
