Where to base yourself
Sandton
Five minutes from the ground and on the Gautrain line from the airport. The easiest base if you are flying in for a short run of matches.
Rosebank and Parktown North
Leafier and quieter than Sandton, with a Gautrain station and a good run of restaurants along 7th Avenue.
Melville and Parkhurst
Guesthouses and garden cottages rather than hotels, and the best neighbourhood food in the city. About 15 minutes by car.
Getting to the ground
Take the Gautrain to Sandton or Rosebank and a short e-hailing ride from there. Parking around the ground fills early on big match days, so most locals do not drive in.
Rest days
Pilanesberg and the Cradle of Humankind are both within two hours, and the Magaliesberg makes an easy overnight. For a proper safari, the southern Kruger is a five hour drive or a one hour flight.
