About Laikipia Conservancy
Laikipia is a plateau of ranches and community lands north of Mount Kenya that together form one of the most important wildlife areas outside the national parks, with more endangered species than any other region in Kenya: black rhino, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, wild dog and the last northern white rhinos at Ol Pejeta. There is no single park; the conservancies each run their own lodges and camps, with walking, horseback and camel safaris allowed in ways the parks do not permit. It is malaria-low at altitude and reached by road or air from Nanyuki.
