About Aberdare National Park
The Aberdares are a high forested range in central Kenya, rising to almost 4,000 metres, with a national park of moorland, bamboo and montane forest that holds elephant, buffalo, black rhino, the rare bongo antelope and giant forest hog. It is best known for the tree hotels, The Ark and Treetops, where guests watch a floodlit waterhole through the night, and for the waterfalls and trout streams of the high moors. It is cold and wet by Kenyan standards, with the dry months from about June to September and January to February the easiest. Nyeri and Naro Moru are the gateway towns.
