About Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park is the small park on the doorstep of Tanzania's safari capital, an hour from the airport, built around Mount Meru, the Momella lakes and the Ngurdoto crater. It is a walking park: guided walks among giraffe and buffalo, canoeing on the lakes with flamingos and hippo, and the four-day climb of Meru, which many use to acclimatise for Kilimanjaro. Black-and-white colobus monkeys are the signature animal; there are no lions. It is green year-round, at altitude, and works as the first or last day of a northern-circuit safari.
