About Aquila Private Game Reserve
Aquila is the Big Five reserve closest to Cape Town, about two hours away near Touws River on the edge of the Karoo. It exists so that visitors who have only a day or a night can see elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard without flying to the Lowveld, and it is honest about that: this is a reintroduced population on a fenced reserve, not the wild bush of Kruger. The setting is the real thing though, a wide Karoo valley under the mountains, and the reserve is malaria-free. Day safaris and overnight stays are both offered, and it combines easily with the Winelands or Route 62.
