About this place

Tree Tops is Lalibela's tented camp, built up in the canopy of an indigenous forest above a wooded valley. Five canvas suites stand on thatched platforms joined by raised walkways, each with insulated double canvas walls, large windows, air conditioning and a private balcony over the forest. Bathrooms have a shower and a single basin.

The main area has a spacious lounge and an open-air dining deck overlooking a waterhole in the forest below. The camp was built to tread lightly, and the forest setting makes it a favourite with birders: the canopy is home to the Knysna Turaco.

Stays are full board with two open-vehicle game drives for every night, plus teas, coffees and local drinks. Tree Tops welcomes adults and children aged 14 and older, and can also be booked for exclusive use.

About Lalibela Wildlife Reserve

Lalibela Wildlife Reserve is a malaria-free Big Five reserve in the Eastern Cape, on the N2 between Gqeberha and Makhanda and about an hour from Gqeberha's airport. Five ecosystems meet on the reserve, and its six lodges range from a family camp and a tented camp in the forest canopy to an exclusive-use Edwardian manor.
