Thorntree River Lodge

Thorntree River Lodge sits on the banks of the Zambezi within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia, where the calm of the upper river contrasts with the distant thunder of Victoria Falls. It is twenty minutes from Livingstone airport and an easy start or end to a longer safari.

Every suite has a private plunge pool, indoor and outdoor showers, a bath, a viewing deck and a stocked bar cart, with a wall of glass facing the river. The shared spaces flow from the lounge to the dining area, all with river views, and the riverside deck has an infinity pool and a fire pit; there is a spa and a gym.

From the lodge, guests can take river cruises, canoeing trips, fishing and game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya, walk with rhinos, and visit Victoria Falls on the Zambian side (and the Zimbabwean side when the water is low), with helicopter flights over the Falls available. Children of all ages are welcome, with the Ngwana Club for younger guests. It is one of the camps run by African Bush Camps, a Zimbabwean-founded safari company whose Foundation works on education, community and conservation projects in the areas around its camps.
