About this place
Sindabezi is a small island in the Zambezi River, 12 km upstream of Victoria Falls, reached by boat from Tongabezi. It has just five thatched chalets and no grid connection at all, which is why Fodor's named it one of Africa's top ten eco-lodges: the only footprints you leave are in the island's soft sand.
The chalets stand on stilted decks with full views across the river to the Victoria Falls National Park, open at the front to the light and the breeze. Solar-heated water fills the baths, and at night the island is lit by hurricane lamps and candles. The Honeymoon Chalet sits on a secluded part of the island with its own sandy shoreline, a four-poster bed and a bath on the deck under the stars.
Your neighbours are hippos and birds. Days are spent on the river and around the Falls, with the same activities as Tongabezi: boat trips, island picnics, fishing, a walk in the gorge, a game drive in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and a visit to Livingstone Island. The whole island can be booked for a family or small group, with its own guide, boat and team.

Four thatched chalets on stilted wooden decks, each with full river views, an en-suite bathroom with a solar-heated bath, a canopied bed made up as a double or twin, and a private deck facing the Zambezi. Each has its own feature: the loos with a view in Chalets 2 and 3, the hammock and resident hippos at Chalet 4, and the clawfoot tub with a river view in Sunrise Chalet 1.

3 guests · 1 bedroom · 1 bathroom
Secluded on its own part of the island with a private sandy shoreline, the Honeymoon Chalet has a four-poster bed draped in netting and a bath on the deck under the stars, with locally made furniture and textiles in neutral tones. There is space for an extra single bed beside the double.

Livingstone is a destination in Southern Province, offering visitors local character, community attractions, and the kind of slower pace that draws travellers looking for more than a photo op.
