About this place
Sand Rivers sits on a bend of the Rufiji in Nyerere National Park, built so close to the water that it seems moored to the bank, with one whole side of the lodge open to the river. Nomad pioneered walking safaris in what was then the Selous Game Reserve, and the camp still runs on that footing: game drives, boat trips upstream through hippo water, walking with a guide, and fly camping out under mosquito net tents for those who want a night away from the lodge.
There are eight rooms in two settings. Five sit at river level, four standard Riverside Rooms and one family room, each with a private verandah and an ensuite bathroom. Three Hillside Suites stand above the camp with their own lounge and plunge pool, one of them a family suite. Rooms have proper showers with hot water on demand, flush loos, mosquito nets and a choice of double or twin, and an extra bed can be added for children aged eight to sixteen.
The camp keeps a swimming pool, a shop and a massage service, and laundry is included. Communal dining is the norm, with private dining when the weather allows, a choice dinner menu, and special diets and severe allergies catered for with notice. The area is quiet, with few other camps, which is much of the point.
Rates are quoted per person per night sharing on the Nomad Game Package, which includes a private guide and vehicle for game drives, all meals, house drinks and camp activities on a shared basis.

Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation.
Cancellation Policy
A minimum 20 percent deposit is due within 7 days of a booking being confirmed, with full payment 60 days before the first date of travel. Bookings confirmed inside 60 days require full payment within 7 days. Cancellations more than 61 days before arrival forfeit 20 percent of the costed itinerary; cancellations 60 days or less before arrival forfeit 100 percent. Postponements requested more than 60 days ahead incur a 10 percent charge and may be moved up to 12 months; inside 60 days a postponement is treated as a cancellation. Comprehensive travel insurance including cancellation cover is a condition of booking.
Note: The 2.5% conservation contribution, payment processing fees, and any applicable referral commissions are non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Conservation contribution fees (2.5%) support conservation and community projects in the destinations you visit. Payment processing fees are absorbed by Spekboom for completed bookings, but cannot be recovered once a booking is cancelled. Referral commissions, where applicable, are paid to the referring party upon booking confirmation.
Payout Protection: Guest payments are held until the free cancellation window passes. This protects guests who cancel within their cancellation window and ensures hosts receive guaranteed payouts after the cancellation period ends.
