Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge stands high on the hills of northern Zimbabwe with sweeping views over Lake Kariba, one of the world's largest reservoirs. On its own private concession beside Matusadona National Park, it combines a classic bush safari with life on the water: the lake teems with hippos, crocodiles and birds, while the hills hold lions, leopards and elephants, and black rhinos have returned to Matusadona for the first time in more than thirty years.

The lodge has suites with air conditioning, a freestanding bath, indoor and outdoor showers, a minibar and a private deck reaching out towards the lake, including an interleading suite for families. The private Baobab Villa has two large suites, a living room and its own butler, guide and vehicle. The main deck holds a canvas-covered bar, an open dining area and an infinity pool where lake and sky run together, and there is a spa and a gym.

Activities include game drives, night drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, fishing and birding, cultural visits rooted in Tonga traditions, and conservation experiences in Matusadona. Guests can also spend a lunch cruise or a night aboard the Lady Jacqueline, the lodge's houseboat on the lake. It is one of the camps run by African Bush Camps, a Zimbabwean-founded safari company whose Foundation works on education, community and conservation projects in the areas around its camps.
