Kalahari Tented Camp stands on a dune ridge in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, looking out over the dry bed of the Auob River and a waterhole below. The setting is pure Kalahari, red dunes, sparse camelthorn trees and a vast pale sky, in one of the most remote and atmospheric wilderness areas in southern Africa. The camp is well known for the game that moves along the riverbed and gathers at the waterhole, where gemsbok, springbok and wildebeest draw the predators the Kgalagadi is famous for, including the black-maned Kalahari lion, cheetah and leopard. Dawn and dusk at the waterhole are the highlights of any stay. Accommodation is in desert tents built of canvas and timber, each with its own kitchen and shaded veranda. There is a swimming pool to escape the midday heat. This is a place for big silence, clear night skies and unhurried game watching from your own doorstep.
