The Old House at River Bend is a quiet echo of old Graaff-Reinet — a place of thick old walls, deep shade and timeless calm. Behind thick whitewashed walls and traditional green shutters, The Old House offers a cool, quiet refuge from the Karoo sun — a gentle step back into historic Graaff-Reinet.

This is a private indoor space with private entrance. Twin beds in the en-suite bedroom, with its original roof beams and deep-set windows, carry the character of another era. Solid walls keep the space naturally cool, while traditional green shutters filter the Karoo light beautifully. The bathroom features a shower, classic fittings, and a large shuttered window.

Outside, gracious Cypress trees shade a lush lawn once fed by historic lei-water furrows still visible today — a rare, green sanctuary in the Karoo, perfect for lingering with a book or unwinding beneath wide skies as evening settles.
