About this place
The Happy Place is a private cottage on a small working farm in Van Wyksdorp, a quiet village in the Little Karoo, where olives and peaches are grown. The cottage stands on its own in an indigenous garden with views of the mountains, and the hosts live on the farm in a separate house.
Inside is one open-plan living space with a wood-burning stove, a dining table and a full kitchen with a gas hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, plus a bedroom with a king-size bed and a separate shower room. A double sleeper couch in the living area can take extra guests by arrangement. Outside are a wooden deck, a covered stoep, a braai, a rustic farm splash pool reached along a boardwalk, and a solar-heated outdoor bath. An inverter keeps the lights and Wi-Fi on.
The village shops and places to eat are close by, and the farm makes a peaceful base for walking, cycling and birding in the Little Karoo. The hosts employ three people from the village and are working towards a proclaimed nature reserve just outside the town.

Conservation contribution fees (2.5%) support conservation and community projects in the destinations you visit. Payment processing fees are absorbed by Spekboom for completed bookings, but cannot be recovered once a booking is cancelled. Referral commissions, where applicable, are paid to the referring party upon booking confirmation.
Payout Protection: Guest payments are held until the free cancellation window passes. This protects guests who cancel within their cancellation window and ensures hosts receive guaranteed payouts after the cancellation period ends.
