About this place
Somalisa Expeditions is the most rustic of the Somalisa camps in Hwange National Park: six tents in earthy ochres and greens, raised on wooden decks above the bush, for travellers who want a real and remote safari without giving up comfort.
There are five luxury tents and one family tent, each with a king-size bed under mosquito netting (the family tent's second room has two singles), an indoor shower, a writing desk and charging points. The main area has a lounge for reading and journaling, a long dining table, a plunge pool, a bar and a fire for the evenings.
Morning and afternoon game drives and walking safaris head out into Hwange's grasslands and teak woodland, a photographic hide puts you at eye level with wildlife, and the in-camp Elephant Pool brings herds right up to the camp. The Somalisa Sleep-Out treehouse is fifteen minutes away. It is one of the camps run by African Bush Camps, a Zimbabwean-founded safari company whose Foundation works on education, community and conservation projects in the areas around its camps.
