Somalisa Acacia

Somalisa Acacia is the family camp of the Somalisa trio in Hwange National Park, built for parents travelling with children of any age and taking at most twelve guests. It shares the in-camp Elephant Pool with its sister camps, where elephants come to drink close to the deck in the heat of the day, and overlooks its own waterhole.

There are two luxury tented suites and two family tented suites. Each has a wood-burning fireplace, a copper slipper bath, a king-size bed, indoor and outdoor showers and a private deck, and the family suites have two interconnecting rooms, the children's room behind a privacy flap, with cots available. A communal fire pit and a broad wooden deck form the heart of the camp, which runs on solar power and recycles most of its water.

Days bring game drives, walking safaris, birding and cultural visits, and the Ngwana Club gives children their own programme of storytelling, crafts and nature walks, ending in a Junior Guide certificate. It is one of the camps run by African Bush Camps, a Zimbabwean-founded safari company whose Foundation works on education, community and conservation projects in the areas around its camps.
