About this place
Sausage Tree Camp was established in 1996 as Zambia's most luxurious bush camp and rebuilt in its entirety in 2018. It sits on the banks of the Zambezi inside Lower Zambezi National Park, shaded by sausage and mahogany trees, and is one of the few camps in Africa that guarantees private guiding: your own guide, vehicle, boat and canoe.
There are seven tented suites and one family house, spaced well apart along the river so that elephants often walk between them. Each suite has a king or twin bed, a lounge with a minibar, a stone bath and outdoor shower, and a private plunge pool facing the river. Kigelia House has two en-suite bedrooms around an open-plan living area, a large deck and its own plunge pool. Every room has a Muchinda, or butler, and meals can be taken privately on your deck.
The park is explored by four-wheel drive, on foot, by boat and by canoe through the side channels of the Zambezi, with tiger fishing (outside the annual fishing ban) and bush dinners under the stars.
