About this place
Roodewal is a secluded bush lodge in the central Kruger National Park, set on the banks of the Timbavati River some 44km north of Satara. Shaded by riverine trees such as Natal mahogany, it is an exclusive, whole-lodge retreat taken by a single party, offering a private slice of the bush in one of Kruger's most rewarding game-viewing regions.
This is a quiet, self-catering camp rather than a serviced rest camp. There are no shop, restaurant or reception facilities, no mains power points in the units and no cellphone reception, so guests arrive self-sufficient, with Olifants around 28km away and Satara some 44km off for supplies.
The Timbavati riverbed and the surrounding bushveld draw a good variety of wildlife, with elephant, lion and nyala regularly about and martial eagle among the raptors overhead. Guided walks and game drives can be arranged in advance through Satara.
