Kanga Expeditions

Kanga sits in the remote south of Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, overlooking Kanga Pan, the only source of water within twelve miles. The pan draws wildlife from far and wide straight to camp, so much of the safari happens from the deck: elephants, buffalo and wild dogs come down to drink, and at night a spotlight controlled by your guide reveals the nocturnal visitors.

There are six tents, with only canvas and gauze between you and the bush: four luxury tents with floor-to-ceiling mesh windows, an outdoor shower and a private veranda; a family tent with a wraparound terrace and its own dining area; and a honeymoon tent with a rolltop bath on a private deck. Everything runs on solar power. The shared area has a lounge, a long dining table, a bar, a plunge pool and a fire pit.

Morning and afternoon game drives and walking safaris explore the area, and a photographic hide beneath the deck sits at eye level with the pan. There are no other camps nearby. It is one of the camps run by African Bush Camps, a Zimbabwean-founded safari company whose Foundation works on education, community and conservation projects in the areas around its camps.
