About this place
Ila Safari Lodge sits on the banks of the Kafue River in Kafue National Park, Zambia's oldest and largest park. It is where Green Safaris' sustainability story began: built from locally sourced materials, run on solar power, and the first lodge in Zambia to offer silent electric game drives and electric boat cruises.
Ten riverside tents are built around mature trees on raised decks that reach out over the river. Eight couples tents have king or twin beds and an open-air shower or bath; two family tents have two bedrooms behind a curtain, sleeping a family of four, with an indoor bath and shower. A rim-flow pool, a bar and fireside deck, and the Sampan floating spa complete the lodge.
Activities include morning and evening game drives and boating safaris, walking safaris when available and picnics out in the park. There is no age limit at Ila, and the guides are good at bringing Kafue to life for younger guests.
Next to the lodge, the Ila Safari House is a private thatched home with seven rooms sleeping fourteen, its own pool, kitchen and chef, with activities run from the lodge.
