Die Kliphuisie

Die Kliphuisie is a whitewashed stone cottage nestled on a 90-hectare working wine and fruit farm, offering breathtaking 360-degree mountain views. Built from river stones and mud, it once housed two workers’ families—hence the two hearths and chimneys.

The bathroom, featuring an open-air hot water shower under the canopy of the Milky Way and Southern Cross, was a recent addition. In the past, workers’ families collected water from the nearby irrigation furrow.

Lovingly restored to preserve its historic charm, the cottage is dressed in crisp white cottons and furnished with antique Cape furniture. Almond, fig, and lemon trees grow in delightful disarray, alongside herbs and roses in an informal garden.

Perfect for a romantic getaway, the cottage accommodates up to four people in two interleading bedrooms. It is fully equipped for self-catering, featuring a two-plate gas stove, bar fridge, crockery, cutlery, bed linen, towels, and a braai area beneath a vine-covered pergola.
