About this place
Keurbooms River Nature Reserve is an exquisite, small World Heritage Site of just 740 hectares in the lush Garden Route just outside Plettenberg Bay. The Keurbooms River winds down from the Tsitsikamma Mountains through an unspoilt forested gorge to a beautiful estuary, promising an undiluted nature experience of indigenous forest, protected kloofs and quiet water.
The reserve is best explored by water. Visitors paddle and canoe upriver through the gorge, fish, picnic and walk the riverbank trails, with the famous Whiskey Creek canoe trail leading to a secluded riverside cabin reached only by water or on foot.
The self-catering Whiskey Creek Cabin offers a genuine away-from-it-all river escape for paddlers and small groups, deep in the reserve and far from any road.
