About this place
Windhoek is where most Namibian journeys begin, and Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino sits right in the middle of it, on Independence Avenue in the Gustav Voigts Centre. It makes a practical first or last night either side of the long drives south to the dunes of the Namib or north towards Etosha, and the hotel can arrange a day trip out to a wildlife sanctuary in the bush east of the city.
The hotel rises above the surrounding streets, so many of its 173 rooms and suites look out over the city to the hills that ring Windhoek. The Mountain View Rooms are among the highest in the building and catch the light moving across the ridges by day. Rooms range from the Avani Room and Business Room to the larger Superior Room, the Avani Suite with its own lounge and dining table, and a two-bedroom Presidential Suite with a kitchen.
On the roof there is an infinity pool and Stratos, a restaurant and bar with some of the widest views in the city, at its best around sunset. Dunes serves an international buffet with live cooking stations, The Pantry is a deli for quick bites, and in-room dining runs around the clock. There is a gym open 24 hours, free parking and free WiFi throughout.
The building also houses a casino, and the hotel has nine meeting and event rooms, which makes it a busy business address during the week. Outside the door, the Namibia Craft Centre is across the road, and the Christuskirche, the Independence Memorial Museum and the city's main monuments are a few hundred metres' walk away.
