Recorded year-round
Recorded in every month, so no month is the wrong month to look. We would rather say that than invent a best time.
Curve from 630 national iNaturalist observations, not from one property. Single-month spikes are discarded as upload artefacts, and below 50 records we show no curve at all.

Questions des voyageurs
Une observation signifie qu’un hôte a vu l’espèce Narina Trogon sur place ou à proximité. Ce n’est jamais une garantie de la voir.
Which parks and reserves are best for the Narina Trogon in South Africa?
Hosts on Spekboom have recorded the Narina Trogon at stays in or beside Kruger National Park, Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, Phinda Private Game Reserve, Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve, Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park and iSimangaliso Wetland Park and other reserves. A record means a host has seen it on the property or nearby, which makes these the places to base yourself; it is never a guarantee of a sighting on any given day.

The Narina Trogon is most recorded in KwaZulu-Natal (48% of records), Western Cape (30% of records), Mpumalanga (8% of records), based on 630 iNaturalist observations. 44 places to stay on Spekboom in South Africa have recorded the Narina Trogon on site or nearby.
When is the best time to see the Narina Trogon?
The Narina Trogon is recorded throughout the year, so no month is the wrong month to look for it. For the parks where hosts record it most, these are the best seasons they give. Kruger National Park: Apr-Sep; Kwandwe Private Game Reserve: year-round, best Mar-May, Sep-Nov; Phinda Private Game Reserve: year-round, dry season May-Sep; Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve: Sep-Apr, flowers Aug-Oct. In the dry months animals concentrate at water and the grass is short.
What is the Narina Trogon?
The Narina trogon (Apaloderma narina) is a largely green and red, medium-sized (32-34 cm long), bird of the family Trogonidae. It is native to forests and woodlands of the Afrotropics. Though it is the most widespread and catholic in habitat choice of the three Apaloderma species, their numbers are locally depleted due to deforestation.
