Mohair Route
Through Karoo Angora-goat country — Aberdeen, Graaff-Reinet, Jansenville, Willowmore.
About this route
South Africa produces over half the world's mohair, and almost all of it comes from the Angora-goat farms of the Eastern Cape Karoo. The Mohair Route winds through the small towns at the heart of that industry — Aberdeen, Pearston, Graaff-Reinet, Jansenville, and Willowmore — connecting working farms, mohair mills, and dorps where the houses are old and the hospitality is older. Quiet roads, vast skies, and a textile heritage that is genuinely unique to this corner of the country.
