About Twyfelfontein
Twyfelfontein in Damaraland holds one of the largest concentrations of rock engravings in Africa, more than 2,500 images of animals and tracks cut into the sandstone over thousands of years by San hunters, and Namibia's first World Heritage Site. Guided walks run from the visitor centre, and the surrounding valley has the Organ Pipes basalt columns, the Burnt Mountain and the Petrified Forest within an hour. Desert-adapted elephants move through the Aba-Huab and Huab riverbeds nearby, and the lodges of the area run drives to find them. It is malaria-free and best from April to October.
