About Quirimbas National Park
Quirimbas National Park covers the southern islands of the Quirimbas archipelago and a strip of mainland coast and miombo in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, a UNESCO biosphere reserve of coral reefs, mangroves and the old Swahili trading island of Ibo. The islands are the reason to come: dhow sailing, diving on reefs that drop into deep water, humpback whales in the winter months, and the stone town on Ibo. Security in Cabo Delgado has been unsettled in recent years, so check current travel advice before planning, and access is by air to Pemba and by boat from there. It is a malaria area.
