About Hluleka Nature Reserve
Hluleka is a small Wild Coast reserve between Port St Johns and Coffee Bay, where coastal forest and grassland meet a rocky shore of tidal pools and small beaches. It is one of the quieter reserves in the Eastern Cape: a few chalets on the hillside, walks to the beach and into the forest, birding for the coastal specials, and not much else, which is the point. The road in is gravel, the reserve is co-managed with its neighbouring communities, and the nearest towns are a long way off. It suits people who want the Wild Coast without a hotel.
