Nyamatusi Mahogany is the family camp beside Nyamatusi on the Zambezi in Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Children of all ages are welcome, and the Ngwana Club gives younger guests their own programme of bush walks, birding, cooking, crafts and storytelling, while flexible mealtimes and child-friendly menus keep the days easy.
Its tented suites, including family suites, each have air conditioning, indoor and outdoor showers, a minibar, a viewing deck and a private plunge pool with views of the river and the Zambezi escarpment. Like its sister camp it is solar powered and built from thatch and local materials, with handwoven furniture, a bar, a fire pit and a shared pool.
Activities include game drives, canoeing on the Zambezi, fishing and birding, and walking safaris that bring older guests eye to eye with elephants and wild dogs (walking and canoeing are for guests aged 16 and over). It is one of the camps run by African Bush Camps, a Zimbabwean-founded safari company whose Foundation works on education, community and conservation projects in the areas around its camps.
