Makalali Main Lodge

Makalali Main Lodge is a contemporary safari lodge on the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve, 26,000 hectares of Lowveld bushveld near Hoedspruit, west of the Kruger National Park, with the Drakensberg escarpment in the distance. The reserve is home to the Big Five, as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra and kudu.

Completed in 2017, the lodge takes up to 60 guests in 30 rooms, spread across three detached units that face the river, with open living areas designed around light, air and views of the bush. Breakfast and lunch are served in the dining room or on the deck, and bush dinners are held at the outdoor boma.

Two game drives a day in open vehicles are led by qualified rangers. Children can join a bush knowledge course, and a therapist is available on request.
