Tierhoek Cottages are six self-catering cottages scattered across a working certified organic fruit farm at the foot of the Langeberg, in the Noree Valley off the R60 between Robertson and Worcester. Each cottage stands on its own with its own pool, wide verandah and indoor and outdoor fireplaces, so you rarely see another guest.

The farm grows apricots, lemons, quinces, plums, tomatoes and vegetables organically alongside its sister farm Spaarkloof, and the cottages take their names from the orchards. Pepper Tree and Stone Cottage are one-bedroom retreats for two, Stone Cottage sitting above the dam with a deep plunge pool off the stoep. Quince Cottage sleeps up to six in two bedrooms. Tierhoek House and Cottage and Fig Tree House and Cottage each pair a farmhouse with an adjoining cottage and sleep up to ten. Mango Lodge is a three-bedroom A-frame with its own pool.

Every cottage is fully equipped for self-catering with a gas cooker, has wifi, a braai and a fireplace, and firewood is sold on the farm. Robertson is about 25 km away and Worcester about 40 km, which puts the Robertson wine valley and the R62 route within easy reach, but the point of the place is to stay put.

Farming organically has brought the wildlife back. Each orchard has its resident steenbok, grysbok or rheebok, with bushbuck and klipspringer in the mountains and guineafowl and francolin working the orchards for bugs. Families of Jackal Buzzard and Verreaux's Eagle nest in the mountains above the farm, hares, tortoises, mongoose and dassies are everywhere, and porcupines and owls come out at night. Leopard and caracal are on the farm too, though seldom seen.
