La Clé des Montagnes is a collection of thatched Cape farmhouses set on two working farms of vines and orchards in the heart of Franschhoek, with the Franschhoek mountains on one side and the village main street a five-minute stroll on the other. There are four exclusive-use villas, each with its own private garden and swimming pool, and a five-bedroom lodge whose rooms can be taken individually or as a whole house.

Villa stays are run like a private home with staff: a dedicated villa host, continental and hot breakfast, daily housekeeping and laundry, evening turndown, a snack basket and house drinks replenished daily. Guests share the estate facilities across both farms, including the libraries, swimming pools, tennis court and bicycles, with the vineyards open to explore. Lodge rooms are taken on a bed and breakfast basis with housekeeping, daily turndown, welcome drinks and a snack basket.

Each house has its own character. Galerie is an art-filled two-bedroom villa built for couples; Manoir is the gathering house, ideal for a family or as the social centre for a group spread across several villas; Grange is a three-bedroom farmhouse with an upstairs loft of four single beds made for multigenerational stays; and Domain opens to three or four bedrooms for extended families and groups of friends. The kitchen team cooks South African braais over the coals, curated picnics and platters, and a communal Shared Table dinner that is worth booking at least one evening of any stay.
