Waves & Whales

Waves & Whales is a luxury self-catering house in a small estate on the cliffs above Brenton-on-Sea, between Knysna and Buffels Bay on the Garden Route. It sleeps six in three bedrooms, and the main bedroom, the lounge and the furnished deck all look straight out over the Indian Ocean. In season, the bay below is a good place to watch for southern right whales and dolphins from the deck.

The open-plan living area has a deep couch, a large smart TV with the full DStv bouquet, Netflix and Spotify, and fast Wi-Fi throughout. An inverter keeps the lights and internet on through power cuts. The kitchen is fully equipped for longer stays: gas stove, oven, dishwasher, air fryer, coffee machine, blender and a proper set of knives and cookware, with an extra fridge and deep freeze in the garage.

Outside, the deck has a Weber braai, outdoor dining, a lounger and umbrellas, and guests share the estate's fenced swimming pools. Beach umbrellas, chairs and towels are provided for the day on the sand, and Brenton beach and the walking trails are within walking distance.

The three bedrooms are a king, a queen and a twin, with two bathrooms (one with a freestanding bath), Egyptian cotton linen, bathrobes and hairdryers. There is a full laundry with a washing machine and tumble dryer, secure garage parking for two cars, heaters, electric blankets and hot water bottles for winter, and board games, books and activity books for children.

Guests are welcomed with wine and water, and the house is stocked with locally made coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, rusks, artisan bread and honey for the first morning. Stays of five nights or more get a larger welcome pack.
