At Cape Vulture Lodge, the name means everything: the lodge is dedicated to the conservation of more than 728 breeding pairs of endangered Cape Vultures nesting on the cliffs of the Northern Drakensberg Escarpment that towers directly above it. Set on the Manutsa farm off the R36 Strijdom Tunnel road outside Hoedspruit, 8 km from Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport and within easy reach of theformal Kruger, Blyde River Canyon and the Panorama Route, the lodge pairs front-row vulture viewing with a restaurant, bar, terrace, outdoor swimming pool, spa treatments and complimentary wifi in the main area.

The nine solar-powered tented suites are each a safari experience in their own right: light, bright and airy, with crisp white linen accented by rich tribal textiles, minimalist furnishings, draped mosquito nets and an invigorating open-air shower, an effortless blend of Scandi and safari that treads lightly on the earth. Guided on-site activities include vulture viewing, nature walks, sunset drives, a permaculture tour and mountain biking. Cape Vulture Lodge is a BirdLife South Africa affiliated property.
