Taaibosch is a private working wine estate on the lower slopes of the Helderberg, between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, where the celebrated Taaibosch Crescendo is made. The estate is not open to the public, so the only people among its vineyards, oak trees and gardens are the winemaking team and the guests in its three villas.
The Manor House is the original Cape Dutch farmhouse, built in 1838 and restored, with wraparound verandas, wooden shutters and high ceilings. It has five en-suite bedrooms and sleeps ten. Farsight Villa sits high on the mountainside, a contemporary house of stone and glass with four en-suite bedrooms and views across the vineyards to False Bay, Cape Point and Table Mountain. Garden Villa is the smallest, with two en-suite bedrooms, tucked into the gardens with the mountain behind it.
Each villa is booked as a whole and has its own pool, fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, braai and outdoor dining area. Stays are self-catering, and the estate can arrange a private chef, cellar tastings with the winemaker, in-villa spa treatments and guided walks on the farm trails. Families are welcome, and so are small dogs by arrangement.
