Oor hierdie plek
Sirheni Bushveld Camp nestles on the edge of the Sirheni Dam in the remote north of the Kruger National Park, its name a Tsonga word meaning cemetery, after an elephant graveyard at a nearby site. Set in shady mopane woodland, the camp has an intimate, secluded feel, with only residents permitted on the access roads, and a boma on the fence line overlooking the river.
The area is renowned for antelope rarely seen elsewhere in Kruger, including roan, sable, tsessebe, Lichtenstein's hartebeest and reedbuck, with eland and Sharpe's grysbok also regular. Elephant, buffalo and hippo graze along the fence at night, and lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog are recorded in the wider area.
Facilities are deliberately simple. There is a small reception shop stocking firewood and ice but no foodstuffs, a communal freezer and no electricity in the units, each of which has its own braai. This is a quiet, self-catered bush retreat within easy reach of the larger camps' amenities.
