Chisa Busanga Camp

Chisa Busanga Camp sits on a small tree-lined island in the Busanga Plains, in the far north of Kafue National Park and one of the most untouched wilderness areas in Africa. Chisa means bird's nest in Nyanja, and the rooms take their shape from the weaver bird nests that hang in the trees here.

There are only four Nests, plus a fifth with a lift, each raised four metres off the ground in the shade of terminalia trees. Inside the woven shell is a canvas-lined room with a king bed, a modern en-suite bathroom and an indoor and outdoor shower, and a window above the bed for stargazing. Each looks out over the plains and a waterhole in front of the camp.

The camp runs on solar power, and so do its game drive vehicles. Days are spent on morning and evening game drives across the drying floodplains, walking safaris, e-bike outings and picnics out on the plains, where lion prides, elephant and red lechwe gather as the floods recede. With so few rooms, Chisa is easy to book exclusively for a family or small group.
