About this place
Drie Kuilen is a private Karoo nature reserve set deep in the Breede River District, between the Langeberg and Witteberg ranges north of Montagu. Six self-catering houses, an off-grid cottage, a 54-bed group manor and a remote campsite are scattered across the valley, each with mountain views, fireplaces or braais, and full kitchens. Eland House is the flagship with an outdoor hot tub, pool table and glass enclosed veranda; Bontebok is a modern luxury home in a remote valley by a small dam, fully solar-powered with its own hot tub. Springbok and Gemsbok suit smaller groups, Zebra Cottage is fully off-grid for those wanting absolute remoteness, and Mongoose Manor sleeps up to 54 guests for school groups, retreats and large gatherings. The Pear Bush Campsite tucks four spots between oak and fruit trees beside the dam. Wildlife, hiking, dark skies and cold Karoo evenings — the reserve is a working canvas of indigenous fynbos, dams and rocky koppies.
