About this place
With the Simonsberg, Du Toitskloof and Franschhoek mountains as backdrop, Babylonstoren in the Franschhoek Valley of South Africa sits in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Dating back to 1692, the fortunes of this historic Cape Dutch farm took a turn ten years ago when it was skilfully restored by the current owners into a unique destination with magnificent 3,5 hectare fruit and vegetable garden at its core. Every aspect of Babylonstoren, including the contemporary Farm Hotel & Spa, the Farm Shop, restaurants, Scented Room and Bakery, are led by the ever-changing tapestry and botanical diversity of the garden. We also have 232 acres under vine and produce 13 different grape varieties, with our highest vines lying against Simonsberg at some 600 metres above sea level.
