Vrae wat reisigers vra

’n Waarneming beteken dat ’n gasheer die Fiery-necked Nightjar op die eiendom of naby gesien het. Dit waarborg nooit dat jy dit sal sien nie.

Which parks and reserves are best for the Fiery-necked Nightjar in South Africa?

Hosts on Spekboom have recorded the Fiery-necked Nightjar at stays in or beside Kruger National Park, Goukamma Nature Reserve, Anysberg Nature Reserve, Gamkaberg Nature Reserve, Kwandwe Private Game Reserve and Rocherpan Nature Reserve and other reserves. A record means a host has seen it on the property or nearby, which makes these the places to base yourself; it is never a guarantee of a sighting on any given day.

Where can you see the Fiery-necked Nightjar in South Africa?

The Fiery-necked Nightjar is most recorded in Western Cape (36% of records), KwaZulu-Natal (26% of records), Limpopo (12% of records), based on 828 iNaturalist observations. 94 places to stay on Spekboom in South Africa have recorded the Fiery-necked Nightjar on site or nearby.

When is the best time to see the Fiery-necked Nightjar?

The Fiery-necked Nightjar is recorded throughout the year, so no month is the wrong month to look for it. For the parks where hosts record it most, these are the best seasons they give. Kruger National Park: Apr-Sep; Goukamma Nature Reserve: year-round, warm Oct-Apr; Anysberg Nature Reserve: Autumn and spring, Mar-May, Sep-Nov; Gamkaberg Nature Reserve: Autumn and spring, Mar-May, Sep-Nov. In the dry months animals concentrate at water and the grass is short.

What is the Fiery-necked Nightjar?

The fiery-necked nightjar (Caprimulgus pectoralis) is a species of nightjar in the family Caprimulgidae, which occurs in Africa south of the equator. Its distinctive and frequently uttered call is rendered as 'good-lord-deliver-us'. It is replaced in the tropics by a near relative, the black-shouldered nightjar.
