Vrae wat reisigers vra

’n Waarneming beteken dat ’n gasheer die Pearl-breasted Swallow op die eiendom of naby gesien het. Dit waarborg nooit dat jy dit sal sien nie.

Hosts on Spekboom have recorded the Pearl-breasted Swallow at stays in or beside Anysberg Nature Reserve, Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, Rocherpan Nature Reserve, Kruger National Park, De Hoop Nature Reserve and Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve and other reserves. A record means a host has seen it on the property or nearby, which makes these the places to base yourself; it is never a guarantee of a sighting on any given day.

Where can you see the Pearl-breasted Swallow in South Africa?

The Pearl-breasted Swallow is most recorded in Western Cape (47% of records), Eastern Cape (23% of records), Gauteng (10% of records), based on 543 iNaturalist observations. 41 places to stay on Spekboom in South Africa have recorded the Pearl-breasted Swallow on site or nearby.

When is the best time to see the Pearl-breasted Swallow?

Anysberg Nature Reserve: Autumn and spring, Mar-May, Sep-Nov; Kwandwe Private Game Reserve: year-round, best Mar-May, Sep-Nov; Rocherpan Nature Reserve: Winter and spring for birds and flowers, Jun-Oct; Kruger National Park: Apr-Sep. In the dry months animals concentrate at water and the grass is short.

What is the Pearl-breasted Swallow?

The pearl-breasted swallow (Hirundo dimidiata) is a small swallow. It breeds in southern Africa from Angola, southern Zaire and Tanzania southwards. It is partially migratory with many birds from the south west of South Africa wintering further north.
