Vrae wat reisigers vra
’n Waarneming beteken dat ’n gasheer die African Hawk-Eagle op die eiendom of naby gesien het. Dit waarborg nooit dat jy dit sal sien nie.
Which parks and reserves are best for the African Hawk-Eagle in South Africa?
Hosts on Spekboom have recorded the African Hawk-Eagle at stays in or beside Kruger National Park and iSimangaliso Wetland Park. A record means a host has seen it on the property or nearby, which makes these the places to base yourself; it is never a guarantee of a sighting on any given day.
Where can you see the African Hawk-Eagle in South Africa?
The African Hawk-Eagle is most recorded in Limpopo (51% of records), Mpumalanga (41% of records), based on 921 iNaturalist observations. 11 places to stay on Spekboom in South Africa have recorded the African Hawk-Eagle on site or nearby.
When is the best time to see the African Hawk-Eagle?
The African Hawk-Eagle is recorded throughout the year, so no month is the wrong month to look for it. For the parks where hosts record it most, these are the best seasons they give. Kruger National Park: Apr-Sep; iSimangaliso Wetland Park: year-round, dry season May-Sep. In the dry months animals concentrate at water and the grass is short.
What is the African Hawk-Eagle?
The African hawk-eagle (Aquila spilogaster) is a large bird of prey. Like all eagles, it belongs to the family Accipitridae. The African hawk-eagle breeds in tropical Sub-Saharan Africa. It is a bird of wooded hills, building a stick nest about 3 feet (almost 1 metre) in diameter in the fork of a large tree. The clutch is generally one or two eggs.
