Kogelberg Nature Reserve is considered by many to be the most beautiful of CapeNature's protected areas, a world-renowned World Heritage Site at the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. With minimal human interference, it holds perhaps the finest example of mountain fynbos in the Western Cape, threaded by the clear Palmiet River and ringed by rugged peaks above Kleinmond and Betty's Bay.
The reserve is a paradise for hikers, swimmers and botanists, with trails through fynbos found nowhere else on earth, river swimming and exceptional birdlife. It sits within easy reach of the Clarence Drive coastal route, one of the most scenic drives in the country.
Accommodation is low-impact and design-led, from the off-grid Oudebosch Eco Cabins overlooking the valley and the Palmiet Honeymoon Studio to the Mbali Collection's eco pods and larger eco cabins. Each is built to tread lightly on this sensitive landscape while placing guests right in the fynbos.
