About this place
Sasi Bush Lodge is a luxury tented bush camp set on Kilburn Nature Reserve in the foothills of the Northern Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal. Overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage Site of uKhahlamba Royal Natal National Park and the mighty Tugela Falls — at 983 metres, the highest waterfall in the world — Sasi is the kind of place that gets under your skin.
Seven canvas structures make up the camp: five accommodation tents sleeping a total of 14 guests, and a main lodge with bar, dining room, lounge and outdoor boma. A wooden deck with an inset rim-flow pool overlooks the Drakensberg range and is the perfect spot for a sundowner. African-minimalist interiors, locally manufactured furniture, and full-height canvas panels that open to the bush put nature at the centre of every stay.
Rates are dinner, bed and breakfast — a fresh, locally inspired set menu paired with a guided walk on the reserve each day. 4×4 game drives, bush breakfasts, massages, and bush dining experiences are bookable on arrival. The reserve is on Kilburn Game Farm, where the dam feeds the TUVA hydroelectric scheme — a working balance between conservation and renewable energy.
Sasi is sustainability-conscious by design, aiming to minimise its human footprint while delivering proper luxury. The camp does not host children under 9; older children (9–18) pay 50% of the sharing rate.
Bergville and the iconic Poccolane peak are nearby; access is via the R74 and a final stretch of farm road, where guests are guided in from the gate at Kilburn Private Game Farm.

Bergville is a beautiful destination in KwaZulu-Natal, offering visitors access to local amenities, natural attractions, and the authentic character of South African life.
