Icarus is a cosy self-catering cabin on Wildschutskloof — a 2,500-hectare private nature reserve nestled between the Warmwater Berge and the Langeberg, just 2.7 km from Barrydale on the R62 in the Klein Karoo.

Surrounded by mountains and complete silence, this one-bedroom cabin is an ideal getaway for a couple or small family. The bedroom has a king-size bed and a private en-suite bathroom (shower, washbasin, toilet); a second outdoor shower lets you bathe under the stars. The living area features a comfortable couch and indoor fireplace, while the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a bar fridge, gas stove and oven, plus all cutlery, crockery and tea/coffee facilities. Linen and towels are provided.

A covered patio with sun loungers, dining table and firepit looks out over the surrounding mountains — the perfect spot for a braai under wide Karoo skies.

Wildschutskloof is a second-generation family-owned private reserve focused on conservation, with around 20 reintroduced game species and 100+ indigenous plants. Cape Town is roughly 2.5 hours by road. The property is best explored slowly — hiking, birdwatching, stargazing, and unwinding.
